The Big Beginning: February 4th Campaign Kickoff Fundraiser
We aren’t taking any breaks! Governor Larry Hogan’s veto of the Maryland Clean Energy Jobs Act (our namesake and muse) was overridden just two days ago, and we’re now already on our way to pushing the next energy bill.
A major determinant of our success is the amount of money we raise during the early months. Today we launched phase one of our campaign with a house party in Northern Baltimore where we raised around $20,000 in one night. This is huge and is a great energy to start with.
The party featured speakers such as Attorney General Brian Frosh, Delegate Dana Stein, Bishop Eugene Sutton, CCAN Director Mike Tidwell, and Gerald Stansbury President of the MD State Conference NAACP. We’ve already got a lot of people standing with us, but we’ve only just begun. We have big plans in the works–look out for news of our next party! Even better, plan your own and we’ll come out with speakers like those listed above.
A big shout out to all of our speakers and special guests–your inspirational words were moving and are a large part of growing our support base. Thanks to Molly, Vinny, Jamie, and Nikki for hosting!
